Parsi Dal is a plain dal dish. It is marked by use of garlic. Though the Parsi Dal is quite mild yet packed with lots of garlic and if you are a garlic lover, it’s the Dal for you. Ingredients for making Parsi Daal 

  • 1 cup Split Red Lentil (Masoor Dal)
  • 3-4 cup water
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • A pinch of Turmeric Powder
  • 2 chopped Green Chilli  
  • 2 flakes chopped Garlic
  • 2 tbsp Clarified Butter (Ghee)
  • 1 tbsp chopped Coriander Leaves
  • Salt to taste

 

Method to prepare parsi dal

  1. Clean and wash the daal.
  2. Add daal, water, turmeric powder and salt in a pressure cooker and Pressure cook all the material for 2 whistles. And then simmer the flame for 10 minutes. Then remove from the flame.
  3. Mash the dal with a wooden spoon. Keep aside in a pan.
  4. Heat the Clarified Butter in a pan,add the cumin seeds, garlic, salt, green chillies in it. Fry for a minute over a low flame and pour over the dal.
  5. Again cook the daal for 2 minutes. Remove from the flame.
  6. Garnished parsi daal with the corriander leaves.
  7. Serve hot with plain rice/jeera rice or chapattis.
