Moong Dal is one of the popular daal (pulse) dishes in India. Moong dal is not only easy to cook but also highly nutritious. Here is an easy to make Moong dal recipe to help you prepare Indian pulse, moong dal.

 

Ingredients for making moong daal 

  • 1/2 cup Moong Dal ( Green Gram)
  • 2 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 small tomato chopped
  • 1 small Onion chopped
  • 1 long chopped Green Chillies
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
  • Pinch of Asafetida
  • 1 tbsp clarified butter
  • 2 Curry Leaves
  • Few chopped Coriander leaves

 

How to prepare moong daal 

  1. First of all wash the daal.Take a cooker, put moong daal and water in it, and then add turmeric powder and salt to taste. Pressure cook all the material for up to 2 whistles. And then simmer the flame for 10 minutes.
  2. When the daal is cooked and thick, remove from flame.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and asafetida (hing), let them splutter, then add green chilies and curry leaves.
  4. Add chopped onions and chopped tomato in the oil and fry for a minute.
  5. Now add all the above prepared frying material to the daal and let it boil for a few minutes.
  6. Garnish moong daal with coriander leaves and serve hot with chapattis and rice.
