Ingredients for making Moong dal Palak
- 1 cup split Green Gram Lentil (Moong Dal)
- 3 cup chopped Spinach (Palak)
- Water
- 1 tsp chopped Garlic
- 1 tsp chopped Ginger
- 1 tsp Asafetida
- 1tsp cumin seeds
- A pinch of Turmeric Powder
- 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
- 1 tbsp fresh Cream
- 2 tbsp Butter
How to prepare moong dal with palak
- Clean and Wash the dal and soak the dal (gram) for 30 minutes.
- Take a cooker; add the spinach leaves and little water in it. Pressure cook it for a whistle. Remove cooker from the flame. Open the lid when pressure get removed, drain the leaves and when cool grind the spinach in a blender, remove and keep aside.
- Now put daal, water, turmeric powder, chilly powder and salt in a pressure cooker. Pressure cook for 2 whistles and then simmer for 10 minutes. Remove cooker from the flame. Keep aside. Mash the daal with the help of a wooden spoon.
- Transfer the moong dal to a pan and add the spinach paste. Mix thoroughly.
- Cook over a low flame for 2 minutes. Remove from the flame and keep aside.
- Heat butter in a pan, add the garlic and fry for till the garlic turns light brown in color.
- Add the asafetida and ginger. Fry for a few seconds over a low flame.
- Add the dal to it and mix thoroughly. Remove from the flame.
- Garnished the daal with cream.
- Serve hot with plain rice/ jeera rice or chapattis.
