Masoor Dal is actually a type of legume. Masur Daal has a great flavor and goes well with curd, rice and chapattis alongside vegetables. Here is an easy Masoor Daal recipe to help you learn how to prepare Masoor Dal.
Ingredients for making Masoor Dal
- 1 cups masoor dal (dhuli malka)
- 4 cups water
- 1 1/2 teaspoons turmeric powder
- 1/3 cup clarified butter
- 1 1/2 chopped onions
- 2 chopped tomatoes
- 1-3 chopped garlic seeds
- 1 (1-inch piece) chopped ginger root
- 2 chopped chilies,
- Few chopped coriander leaves,
- Salt to taste
How to prepare Masoor Daal
- Clean and wash the masoor dal properly until water is clear. Add 4 cup water to the daal and boil for 15 minutes.
- Now add turmeric powder, garam masala and salt in it. Pressure cook all the material till 2 whistles and then simmer the flame for 10 minutes.
- Heat Clarified Butter (Ghee) in a pan, add cumin seeds and asafetida (heeng), let them splutters, then add green chilies to it.
- Thereafter add chopped garlic, chopped onions, ginger and chopped tomatoes in the oil and fry for a minute. Continue to fry until onions are deep-yellow ad tomatoes turn soft.
