Chana dal or gram is a bean that is very common in India. Chana dal is quite popular in India and forms an important part of the meals of many Indians. It is very tasty and differs a lot from other dals in its taste. Chana dal goes well with rice and chapattis. Learn how to prepare chana Daal by following this easy recipe.

 

 

 Ingredients for making Chana Daal 

  • 1 cup chana daal
  • 7 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp corriander powder
  • 1 tbsp tamarind pulp
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • 1/4 tsp black mustard seeds
  • 1 chopped garlic clove
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp salt

 

 

How to prepare Chana Dal 

  1. First of all clean and wash the chana daal properly until water is clear.
  2. Soak the dal in 4 cup water for 2-3 hours, then wash and drain excess water.  
  3. Take a pan, add 3 cups water and salt in it and make it to a boil.
  4. Now add chana daal in it, cover the dal and cook for 30 minutes on a medium flame.
  5. When the dal gets cooked, stir it.
  6. Add turmeric, cayenne, coriander powder, cumin powder and the tamarind pulp (skin & seeds removed) to it.
  7. Again stir the dal so that all the material get mixed thoroughly and keep it uncovered.
  8. Allow the dal to simmer.
  9. Heat vegetable oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds and chopped garlic to it.
