Matar Ki Chat Recipe

Matar Ki Chat is a spicy snack prepared with dried peas. It also brings in the sweet and sour taste of chutney and lemon juice. The delicious Matar ki Chat is can be prepared easily by following this recipe. Follow the steps carefully and have a mouth licking experience.

Ingredients :

•    Pre-soaked sukhe matar (dried whole peas) – 2 cups
•    Potatoes – 2, boiled, peeled and chopped
•    Large onion- 1, finely chopped, optional
•    Baking soda – 1/2 tsp
•    1 small cucumber (peeled and chopped)
•    A pinch of asafoetida
•    Tamarind chutney
•    Green chutney
•    Tomato – 1, chopped
•    Lemon juice

Spices For Chat :

•    Garam masala powder
•    Salt to taste
•    Ground roasted cumin (jeera)
•    Pounded or ground red chilies
•    Black salt (kala namak)

How To Prepare Matar Ki Chat:

1.    Take a saucepan and add dried peas with water and cook it covered.

2.    Now add asafetida and soda. Stir is well and cook on moderate flame for about 15 minutes till peas become tender. Drain them.

3.    Now take two spoons of peas in a bowl and add onions, tomatoes, cucumber and potatoes to it.

4.    Sprinkle spices as per taste and add tamarind chutney and lemon juice on top.

5.    Toss it well. Matar ki Chat is ready to be served.
