Besan Dhokla Recipe
Besan Dhokla is a traditional Gujarati snack. It is a steamed savoury cake made from gram flour. Besan Dhokla is typically a tea time treat. We provide you with steps to prepare Besan Dhokla. Follow the steps carefully and savor the taste.
Ingredients :
• Gram flour (Besan) – 350gms
• Curd – 1cup, stirred
• Oil – 1tbsp
• Green Chilies – 1tsp, paste
• Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp.
• Ginger – 1tsp, paste
• Lemon juice – 1
• Soda bi-carb / – 1tsp, Eno fruit salt can be used alternatively
• Salt to taste
For Tampering
• Green chilies – 2-3, vertically slit
• Few Curry leaves
• Oil – 2tsp
• Mustard Seeds – 1tsp
• Coriander leaves, chopped
How To Prepare Besan Dhokla:
1. To prepare basan dhokla, take a bowl and add besan, water and curd and mix them thoroughly to form a smooth batter. Make sure that the batter is of thick consistency.
2. Now add salt to the batter and keep it aside for 4 hours. Cover it with a lid.
3. Now to this add green chili and ginger paste and yurmeric powder. Mix well.
4. Now put the cooker or steamer on the gas. Grease the baking dish. Make sure that baking dish should fit properly in the steamer or cooker.
5. Now take another small bowl and mix eno, 1 tsp oil and lemon juice. Add this mixture to the batter and mix well.
6. Now pour the batter in the greased baking dish and bake it for 10-12 minutes or till it is cooked.
7. Take the baking dish out of the cooker and keep it aside to cool. Cut it into big pieces after it cools.
8. Meanwhile take a pan and heat oil in it and add mustard seeds to it and allow them to splutter. To this add curry leaves and allow them to splutter.
9. Remove the pan from the heat and pour it over the big pieces of dhokla. Garnish with coriander leaves and green chilles.
10. Besan Dhokla is ready to be served. Goes best with hari chutney.
