Sarson Ka Saag

Sarson Ka Saag is a typical Punjabi (North Indian) dish. Sarson Ka Saag tastes really well with Makke Ki Roti (Indian maize flatbread) and fresh butter. Sarson Ka Saag is prepared in almost all households of Punjab during winters. Here is an easy recipe for Sarson Ka Saag.

Maki De Roti De Sarson da Saag, Khalo Saare Te Ban Jao Nawab…

Ingredients for making Sarson ka Saag :
• 1 bunch sarson greens
• ½ tsp garlic, grated
• 1 bunch spinach(palak)
• ½ tsp ginger, grated
• 1 onion, grated
• 3 green chillies
• 1 tbsp maize flour
• 1 tbsp grated cheese
• ½ lemon juice
• 1 tbsp oil
• Salt to taste
• 2 tbsp ghee
• ½ tsp garam masala

How To Prepare Sarson Ka Saag:

1. To prepare sarson ka saag first chop spinach and sarson greens. Wash and drain them thoroughly.
2. Take a pressure cooker and heat oil in it. When the oil is hot add both spinach and sarson. Also add garlic, ginger and green chillies. Stir-fry for sometime.

3. Now add a pinch of salt and 1 cup water. Pressure cook it till it is cooked completely.
4. When done mash it well. Now take a pan and heat ghee in it. Fry onions in it till they become brown.
5. Apart from cheese add all the other ingredients in the pan. Stir-fry till oil comes up.
6. Sarson ka Saag is ready to be served. Garnish with grated cheese before serving.
7. Goes best when hot and served with makki ki roti.
