Paneer Kofta

Paneer Kofta is a variety of the traditional Indian dish- Kofta. In South Asia, Koftas are normally cooked in a spicy curry. Kofta dishes are very popular in South Asia and an important part of South Asian restaurant’s menu. In many parts of East India, koftas are made with prawns, fish, green bananas and cabbage. Here we are making koftas with paneer. Follow this easy recipe to learn how to make delicious paneer kofta.
Ingredients for making Paneer Kofta:
For kofta:
- 200 gms cottage cheese ( paneer )
- 2 potatoes ( aloo )
- ½ tsp red chili powder
- ¼ tsp garam masala
- 2 tbsp cornflour
- Oil for frying
For gravy:
- 4 onions ( pyaj )
- 4 tomatoes (tamatar )
- Coriander leaves ( dhania patta )
- ½ cup curds
- ½ cup cashewnut powder
- ½ tsp cumin seed
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp red chili powder
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- ¼ tsp garam masala
- 1 bay leaf ( tej patta )
- 2 tbsp clarified butter ( ghee )
How to make Paneer Kofta:
- First of all boil potatoes and peel them.
- Then grate paneer and potatoes.
- Then add red chili powder, salt, garam masala, cornflour and mix well.
- Now make round balls of this mixture.
- Now heat oil in a pan.
- Then fry balls in the oil till brown in color.
- Then grind onion and tomatoes together.
- Then chop coriander leaves very finely.
- Now heat oil in a pan.
- Then add cumin seed and bay leaf.
- Then add onion, tomato paste and brown it, stirring continuously.
- And when it leaves oil add curd, salt, cashewnut powder, garam masala, turmeric, red chili powder.
- Then stir it continuously for a minute.
- Now add 2 cups of water.
- Then put on the lid and simmer for 5 minutes.
- While serving reheat the gravy then add koftas to it.
- At the end garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.
