Chana Dal With Pumpkin
Pumpkin Chana Dal is quite popular among Indians. When the outer layer of Kala chana are removed we get Chana Dal. For all those who are fond of Chana Dal, we provide you with a new recipe that includes chana dal as well as pumpkin. Try the following steps that would enable you toprepare chana daal with ease.
Ingredients For Making Chana Daal With Pumpkin :
• 1 cup chana dal (Bengal gram)
• 1 tbsp tamarind pulp
• 250 gm pumpkin
• 1 onion
• 2 tomatoes
• 3 pods of garlic
• salt to taste
• ½ piece of ginger
• 2 green chillies
• 1 tsp turmeric powder
• 2 tbsp oil
• a bunch of curry leaves
How To Prepare Chana Dal With Pumpkin:
1. Take onions and tomatoes and chop them into fine pieces. Slit the chillies in halves.
2. Take the pumpkin and peel it. Remove the pith and cut it in small pieces. Crush garlic and peel ginger and grate it.
3. In 4-5 cups of water cook chana dal till it becomes tender. Make sure it is not overcooked. Keep the dal aside.
4. Take a kadhai and heat oil in it. Fry onions in the oil till they become golden brown. Add tomatoes. Garlic and ginger and fry for a minute.
5. Now add pumpkin pieces, turmeric powder and salt. Also add one cup of water and cover with a lid. Cook till the pumpkin pieces become tender over moderate flame.
6. Mix cooked dal and simmer. Add curry leaves and green chillies. Simmer for 3-4 minutes. Add the tamarind pulp and cook for another minute.
7. Chana Dal With Pumpkin is ready to be served. Goes well with paranthas or rice.
