Dry Dates Pickle
Dry dates pickle is yet another popular pickle. Pickles are an important part of Indian cuisine. It is a way of preserving vegetables that are out of season, as well of spicing up the everyday food and snacks. There are hundreds of pickles in India; in fact, each family has their own favorites. Dates are the fruits of Date Palms. Dates have long been an important food in desert regions, and are the source of syrup, alcohol, vinegar, and strong liquor. Here is an easy recipe to help you to learn how to make Dry dates pickles.
Ingredients for making Dry dates pickles:
- 250 grams dry Dates (Khajoor)
- 1 teaspoon Red chili pepper (Lal Mirchi)
- 5 teaspoons Coriander (Dhania) powder
- 5 teaspoons aniseed powder
- 2 teaspoons white cumin powder
- ¾ or 1 cup Lemon (Nimbu) juice
- Salt (Namak) to taste
How to make Dry dates pickles:
- First of all boil the dates until a little tender.
- Then remove the stones and keep them whole.
- Now dry with a clean cloth.
- Then mix all the ground ingredients together with a little salt and fill in the dates.
- Now keep the dates in clean jar.
- Then mix a little salt with lemon juice and pour over the dates, taking care that dates must be covered with lemon juice.
- Now keep aside for 7 days.
- Shake the jar every other day and serve after one week.
