Onion holds a very important place in vegetables. We mostly use onion for making vegetables, to fry dals and also as medicines. But another way to use onions is as chutney. Here is an easy recipe to help you to learn how to prepare onion chutney. 

Ingredients for making onion chutney:

  • 1 cup peeled onions
  • 6-7 flakes of garlic
  • 2 tbsp channa daal ( Bengal gram)
  • 5 red chilies or as per taste
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • Curry leaves
  • Little tamarind (imli) 

How to make onion chutney (pyaj ki chutney):

  1. First of all heat oil, fry chilies, daal, garlic and the onions, till golden brown.
  2. Then grind them with tamarind and salt.
  3. Now splutter mustard seeds and curry leaves, in oil and pour on top.
  4. Serve it with parath or puri
