Lemon Chutney Recipe

Lemon chutney is another exotic addition to Indian condiments. Lemon is a native to the E Mediterranean but widely cultivated in subtropical climates for its great properties. Lemon is a rich source of Vitamin C. Here is an easy recipe to help you learn how to prepare lemon chutney.
Ingredients for making lemon chutney:
- ½ kg lemons ( nimbu)
- 250 gms sugar (cheeni) (2 cups heaped)
- 1 tsp red chili powder ( lal mirchi)
- 2 tbsps salt (namak)
- ¼ tsp ground big cardamoms (moti elaichi)
- 1/8 tsp ground cloves ( lavang)
How to make lemon chutney:
- First of all wash the lemon and wipe with cloths.
- Squeeze out the juice and add salt to it
- Cut long stripes of lemon skins and soak in the juice and put in a jar.
- Now put the jar in the sun for 6 days and shake it every other day till the lemon skins are tender
- Then add sugar, red chili pepper, cardamoms and cloves and mix
- Now keep it into sun until sugar is dissolved.
This chutney can be preserved for the year if it is kept in an airtight jar.
