Chicken Korma Recipe

Chicken Korma is one of the most sought after dishes of chicken lovers. Chicken Korma has its origin in South Asia. Following recipe will help you easily prepare chicken korma. Chicken Korma is a characteristic Indo-Persian dish which is traced back to the 16th century.

Ingredients for making Chicken Korma:
• 2 cups yogurt
• 1 (2 1/2 pound) cut-up chicken
• 2 tsp fresh ginger, chopped
• 2 tsp ground coriander
• 3 cloves garlic
• 2 medium onions, chopped
• 1 tsp paprika
• Seeds of 2 peeled cardamom pod
• 2 tsp peanut or sunflower oil
• 1/2 tsp ground chili
• 1 tsp cumin
• 1 tsp poppy seed
• 1 tsp turmeric
• 1 bay leaf

How to prepare chicken korma:
1. Take a bowl and marinate chicken in yogurt. Also add 1 clove garlic, half an onion, paprika, ginger, salt and pepper for  few hours.
2. Take a heavy casserole and heat oil in it. Gently sauté remaining onion and garlic for 1 minute. Remove it and keep it aside.
3. Now add coriander, chilli, cumin, cardamom seeds, poppy seed and turmeric in the casserole. Fry it for  few minutes. 
4. Now add chicken and pour water over it so that it covers the chicken. Add the remaining marinated.
5. Take a bay leaf and add onion and garlic with it. Cook for 45 minutes or till the chicken becomes tender.
6. Sprinkle the chicken korma and garnish with coriander and serve.
